Rejoice! The 2021 Range Rover Evoque is here! It arrives in two variants – the S with a diesel engine and the R-Dynamic SE with a petrol-powered heart. The former combo comes with a price tag of Rs 64.12 lakh, whereas the latter costs Rs 66.60 lakh. So the Evoque is noticeably more expensive than before. But then, things have gotten expensive, and the Indian currency isn’t doing all that well either. That partially explains the bump in prices. The remaining part of the justification comes from the added features and a more powerful diesel engine.

What new features? Well, depending on the variant chosen, the Evoque comes with a 3D Surround Camera, cabin air ionisation with a PM2.5 filter and wireless mobile charger with a phone signal booster. In addition, Land Rover has equipped the SUV with the new Pivi Pro infotainment system. The car also packs a ClearSight IRVM, 12-way powered front seats with memory function, driver condition monitor, a digital instrument cluster and two-zone automatic climate control.

Coming to the engines, both are 2.0-litre units. Where the diesel one offers 201bhp/430Nm, the petrol-fed mill produces 247bhp/365Nm. Both powerplants come coupled to a 9-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system. The petrol-powered version will complete the standard sprint in 7.6 seconds and reach 230kmph flat out. Land Rover is yet to update the performance figures for the diesel-fed model.

As before, the Range Rover Evoque will be assembled locally. And, as before, it will hold the title of being the least expensive offering in Land Rover India’s portfolio. Based on its pricing alone, the updated Evoque falls in the same space as the BMW X3, Volvo XC60 and the Mercedes-Benz GLC. At Rs 69.99 lakh, the recently launched Jaguar F-Pace facelift isn’t too far from the Evoque. Earlier this year, Jaguar Land Rover India also introduced the updated Range Rover Velar and, just last week, the Range Rover Sport SVR. Other launches in the pipeline include the refreshed Discovery and the XF facelift.
