About a week ago, Maruti Suzuki introduced the Ertiga facelift. And now, the carmaker has given a similar mid-cycle revision to Ertiga’s close sibling – the XL6. In other words, what you see here is the Maruti Suzuki XL6 facelift. As we’ve come to expect with refreshed versions of cars, the MPV has received a few design tweaks and some feature additions. But, without a shadow of a doubt, the main highlight is the new powertrain. More on that in a bit. First, let’s acquaint ourselves with the price list:

For the record, you could also have the new XL6 on a subscription. The monthly charges for that start at just over Rs 25,000. The design tweaks on the XL6 include a bolder grille and new 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. Indoors, there’s new upholstery for the seats and a few changes to the interior trim with chrome embellishments. Besides those changes, the XL6 facelift also gets new gizmos, including a 360-degree camera, ventilated front seat, an upgraded 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and Suzuki Connect with 40+ connected-car features.

Under the bonnet is an upgraded 1.5-litre petrol engine, the same unit that also powers the Ertiga facelift. It produces 102bhp and 136.8Nm of torque. Although those figures are slightly lower than before, the new engine does offer better fuel efficiency. As standard, it comes coupled to a 5-speed manual transmission. Alternatively, you can have the new 6-speed torque converter, which also comes with paddle shifters. The old 4-speed automatic has been shelved.

Apart from the aforementioned features, the XL6 facelift has a lot more in its arsenal. The list includes support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, auto headlamps, powered ORVMs, cruise control and automatic climate control. On the safety front, the car packs stuff like ISOFIX anchorages, front fog lamps, an electronic stability program, Hill Hold Control and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

The XL6 facelift is still bigger in dimensions than the Ertiga. Plus, the former has a more extensive list of creature comforts. But when it comes to the list of rivals, both have the same. So, the XL6 faces heat from the Kia Carens and Mahindra Marazzo.
