Saar: In May this year, the total sales figure was hovering around the 2.75 lakh mark.

This one was on the cards, wasn’t it?! Maruti Suzuki launched with the AMT-equipped variants of the Vitara Brezza in May this year. With it, the company mentioned that the sub-4 metre SUV’s total sales figure since launch was around the 2.75 lakh mark. Well, we’ve got a more rounded figure now! In less than 29 months of its launch, which happened in March 2016, the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza has surpassed the 3 lakh sales mark.

This achievement is especially astonishing because, from day 1, the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza has been available with a diesel engine only. And it wasn’t until May this year that it received a two-pedal setup with Maruti Suzuki’s AGS (auto gear shift) technology. In short, the Vitara Brezza has been the bestselling SUV in the country for a while now and by quite a margin. By crossing the 3 lakh mark in less than three years, it has also become the fastest to achieve this feat.

Commenting on this achievement, R S Kalsi, senior executive director, sales and marketing, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd., said:

“Vitara Brezza is a breakthrough product, which created disruption in the SUV market. With its sporty and glamourous traits, Vitara Brezza continues to be the most loved SUV despite several new entrants into the segment. The contribution of the top variants in the total sales of Vitara Brezza has zoomed to 56 per cent. This is a testimony to the fact that customers appreciated the refreshed design and innovative features in Vitara Brezza. The Auto Gear Shift has enticed the aspiration of ever evolving customers. We would like to extend our heartiest gratitude to our Vitara Brezza customers and particularly those who have chosen to wait for their loved car.”

New Maruti Suzuki Swift Racks Up 1 Lakh Sales In Less Than 5 Months

Over the three years, Maruti Suzuki has been retailing around 12,300 units of the Vitara Brezza every month. Don’t expect Maruti Suzuki to add a petrol engine under the hood of the Vitara Brezza until it is time for a generation change. Currently, it is being offered with the Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre diesel engine that puts out 90PS/200Nm. On the transmission front, customers can choose either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT. The latter is only available in the VDi, ZDi and ZDi+ variants.
