Saar: The Auto-Gear-Shift unit is available in three variants – VDi, ZDi and ZDi+.

Maruti Suzuki has launched the AMT (automated manual transmission) variants of the Vitara Brezza with prices starting at Rs 8.54 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Maruti Suzuki calls its AMT tech as Auto-Gear-Shift (AGS) and with the Vitara Brezza, it is available in three variants – VDi, ZDi and ZDi+. Here’s the variant-wise price-list (ex-showroom Delhi):

  • VDi AGS – Rs 8.54 Lakh
  • ZDi AGS – Rs 9.31 Lakh
  • ZDi+ AGS – Rs 10.27 Lakh
  • ZDi+ DT AGS – Rs 10.49 Lakh

The 5-speed AMT has been lifted directly from the Maruti Suzuki Dzire. In the engine department though, there is no change to report. The Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre diesel engine still puts out 90PS/200Nm. Though Maruti Suzuki hasn’t shared the official mileage figure of the diesel-AMT, it is not expected to stray too far away from the diesel-manual variants.

Apart from the inclusion of AGS in the variant list, Maruti Suzuki has taken the liberty to up the safety quotient by adding ISOFIX anchorages, high-speed warning alert, dual airbags, ABD with EBD, reverse parking sensors and front seatbelt pre-tensioners with force limiters across all variants. Other changes in Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza’s recipe include new black alloy wheels, chrome garnishing on the front grille and the tailgate and an all-black interior colour theme. As pictured above, a new body colour, Autumn Orange, is now available with or without a contrasting roof finished in Arctic White.

The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza already has a waiting list which, in some towns, even stretches up to a couple of months. With the addition of the AMT-equipped variants, the demand is destined to go higher. As far as pricing goes, the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza ZDi+ DT AGS is approximately Rs 10,000 less expensive than the Tata Nexon XZA+ DT. That difference goes up to around Rs 12,000 when we compare the prices of the Tata Nexon XZA+ with that of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza ZDi+. In short, the AMT-equipped variants of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza undercut the ones on Tata Nexon in terms of price.
