Saar: To be precise, it did so in 145 days. No other car in the history of Indian automobile industry has achieved such a feat.

There’s never a quiet week at Maruti Suzuki, is there?! This time around, India’s largest carmaker has announced that the new Swift has become the fastest car in India to clock sales of 1 lakh units. It managed to achieve this feat in just 145 days. The third-gen Swift was launched in India during the 2018 Auto Expo.

You know what’s coming next, don’t you? It is time for some math. The first takeaway is a simple one – 1 lakh units in 145 days, which means Maruti Suzuki sold 690 units of Swift every day! That means, nearly 29 units were sold every hour, which in turn equates to one being sold in every two minutes. That is an incredible achievement. Maruti Suzuki says that since 2005, when the first-gen Swift was launched in India, the moniker has clocked over 18.9 lakh units in India. The Swift is also among the top 5 most produced models by Maruti Suzuki, ever since the company began its production in 1983. Maruti Suzuki recently announced that its cumulative production in India has breached the 2 crore milestone and the model which marked it was the new-gen Swift.
