Saar: In case you don’t know, it was launched in March 2016.

Maruti Suzuki has a lot of success stories in its portfolio and at least one amongst those revolves around the Vitara Brezza. Launched in March 2016, the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza was an instant hit for the company. And it has never disappointed its accountants ever since. The company claims that nearly 2.75 lakh units of the Vitara Brezza have been sold till date.

We didn’t even have to do more math as Maruti Suzuki did that for us. Based on the number of months that have past since its launch and that cumulative sales number, the monthly sales average comes up to over 12,300 units. That’s more than some carmakers manage with their entire product portfolio in a month. Absolutely astonishing!

In 2017-18 alone, Maruti Suzuki sold 1,48,462 units of its sub-4 metre SUV. That equated to growth of 36.7 per cent over the previous fiscal year of 2016-17. As far as choice of variants goes, approx 56 per cent customers opt for the ZDi or ZDi+ variants of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza.

Based on how cleverly Maruti Suzuki has priced the recently launched AMT (automated manual transmission) variants of the Vitara Brezza, the above-mentioned numbers are likely to grow at an even faster rate. The Auto-Gear-Shift (AGS) unit, that’s how Maruti Suzuki tags its AMT-equipped products, is available on three variants of the Vitara Brezza – VDi, ZDi and ZDi+.

The two-pedal setup has its own set of conveniences but that’s not all that the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza has to offer in its slightly refreshed avatar. Basic safety features such as dual airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors and high-speed warning alert are standard across all variants. The only downer in its recipe is the absence of a petrol engine. We expect one of those to be offered with the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza when it is time for a generation change.

Currently, the only engine that is offered with the 5-speed manual or the 5-speed AGS is the Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre DDiS 200 engine producing 90PS/200Nm.
