Saar: The company wants to inspect for a possible problem with the electric-assist power steering sensor harness.

Are you an owner of the new Honda Amaze, which went on sale on May 16, 2018? Well, your car might be recalled under a voluntary inspection programme. Honda Cars India will be checking 7,290 units of new Honda Amaze for a possible problem with the electric-assist power steering (EPS) sensor harness. The units which will be under the recall programme were manufactured between April 17 to May 24, 2018.

To elaborate further, Honda said that in some of the affected sedans, customers may feel the steering heavier and the EPS light comes on. The company said it will replace the EPS column unit after inspection if required. Needless to say, the inspection and replacement of the part will be carried out at no cost to the customer. Authorised Honda dealers across the country will start contacting owners of the new Honda Amaze from the affected lot. The whole programme will start on July 26, 2018.

If you are worried, which we are sure that you are, you can skip the waiting part and check whether your car is part of the recall programme. You can do that by visiting Honda Car India’s website and entering the 17-character alpha-numeric VIN (vehicle identification number). The VIN is printed in the registration certificate (RC) of the car. Alternatively, you can find it in the bottom right corner of the front windshield.

New Honda Amaze: Variants Explained

Ever since the new Honda Amaze went on sale, it has been doing particularly well for the company. In May and June this year, Honda retailed 9,789 and 9,103 units of the new Amaze respectively. Earlier this month, Honda reported that it has received over 26,000 bookings for the new Amaze since its launch.

In India, the new Honda Amaze competes with a range of potent products, such as the Volkswagen Ameo, Hyundai Xcent, Tata Tigor, Ford Figo Aspire – a facelift is coming soon, and the king of the segment – Maruti Suzuki Dzire. If you are interested in purchasing the new Honda Amaze, you can buy one at the introductory price until July 31, 2018.
