Saar: After commencing bookings for the new Amaze on April 6, 2018, Honda launched it on May 16, 2018.

The all-new Honda Amaze was unanimously tipped to be a success for the company’s Indian operations. Well, the start is surely promising. Honda Cars India sold a total of 15,864 units in May 2018, in the domestic market. That, compared to the 11,278 units sold in the corresponding month last year, is a growth of approximately 41 per cent.

New Honda Amaze: Variants Explained

The second-gen Honda Amaze, for which the company commenced bookings from April 6, 2018, and launched on May 16, 2018, clocked a total sales of 9,789 units. That figure meant that Amaze clocked the highest ever monthly sales for a single Honda model. The sub-4 metre sedan just swept aside the City and the WR-V models to become Honda’s bestseller of the month. A bit more math reveals that out of Honda’s total monthly sales for May 2018 (in the domestic market), the Honda Amaze took a share of nearly 62 per cent.

On this sales achievement, Rajesh Goel, senior vice president and director, sales and marketing, Honda Cars India, said:

“We are delighted with the customer response to the all-new Amaze which has helped our overall sales grow by 41% in May 2018. The customers have appreciated the car for its one class above offering of unmatched bold design, sophisticated and spacious interiors, advanced engine technology and outstanding driving dynamics. During last month, we prioritized Amaze  production volumes to cater to the strong customer demand. We are confident that we will continue with our sales momentum in coming months.”

No matter which way you look at it, the Honda Amaze does have a lot to offer for its price. That said, it will not be easy for the sub-4 metre sedan to unsettle the segment leader – Maruti Suzuki Dzire. Other competitors to the Honda Amaze include the Tata Tigor, Volkswagen Ameo, Hyundai Xcent, Tata Zest and the soon-to-be-refreshed Ford Figo Aspire.

Later in the year, Honda will launch two new models in India – the next-gen CR-V and the Civic.
