We’ve had news about two major vehicle recalls in the past few days – one each from Maruti Suzuki and Ford. Now, there’s another one. French carmaker Renault has triggered a voluntary recall for 75,305 units of Triber. The campaign covers all variants manufactured between May 24, 2019, and June 1, 2021. Come to think of it, Renault launched the Triber in August 2019, meaning all units manufactured from day one, up until the date mentioned above, are part of the recall.

So, what has Renault spotted as an issue? It says that the voluntary campaign has been initiated to modify one of the design elements on the Triber. If not addressed, there’s a risk to the hood (bonnet) opening mechanism. That’s all the carmaker has specified. It means the recall isn’t safety-related, and owners can continue to use the car usually.

Having said that, one must not ignore the issue altogether. It requires rectification since it is, as Renault pointed out, a design flaw. Also, it shouldn’t take that long, provided that owners take a prior appointment with the nearest dealership. And yes, the rectification will come at no cost to customers. Rest assured, Renault will reach out to customers of affected cars and explain the process.

For the uninitiated, Renault has completed 10 years in India in 2021. As part of the celebrations, it is offering a range of benefits in varied forms. For instance, loyalty awards are on offer over and above the model-specific discounts. Also, the carmaker has introduced a new variant of the Kiger and an updated portfolio for the Kwid. With the festive period fast approaching, expect Renault to come up with more enticing offers. As for the Triber, it is expected to receive the turbocharged engine from the Kiger. However, that will only happen sometime next year. Renault might coincide that with the introduction of the mid-life update.
