Saar: Out of the lot, 566 units are of the new Swift and the rest, 713 units, are of the Dzire.

Maruti Suzuki has announced a voluntary recall campaign for two of its hot-selling models – Swift and Dzire. A total of 1,279 units, 566 of Maruti Suzuki Swift and 713 of Maruti Suzuki Dzire, have been included in this service campaign. The carmaker wants to inspect for a possible fault in the airbag controller unit. The company said that the count mentioned above is applicable to units manufactured between May 7 and July 5, 2018.

This recall is part of a global inspection campaign that the company has undertaken. Customers of vehicles which require inspection will be contacted by the company officials for an appointment. The inspection and replacement of part, if need be, will be carried out at no cost to the customer. If you don’t want to wait and are unsure whether your Swift or Dzire is part of the recall campaign, you can check that by entering your vehicles chassis number on the company’s website. It starts with MBH for the Swift and MA3 for the Dzire. Both are then followed by a 14-character alpha-numeric number. If you are unable to locate the chassis number on the car itself, it is also mentioned in the vehicle’s purchase invoice and registration certificate.

It is the second time within a span of three months that the new Swift has been recalled. In May this year, Maruti Suzuki commenced a recall campaign for 52,686 units of the new Swift and the Baleno. The lot manufactured between December 1, 2017, and March 16, 2018, had to undergo an inspection for a possible fault in the brake vacuum hose.

Maruti Suzuki Ciaz Facelift Teased; Launch Delayed

Nevertheless, the new Maruti Suzuki Swift has been shattering sales records in India. In just 145 days, it racked-up one lakh sales for the carmaker. No car in the history of Indian automobiles has managed to sell so quickly in such a short time. Expect it, and the Dzire as well, to keep selling like hot cakes in India and soon enter the history books amongst the bestselling cars of all time.
