Saar: It brings in a host of features including live vehicle tracking, geo-fencing and driving behaviour analysis.

Vehicle telematics solutions aren’t new in India. Up until now, several carmakers which target the masses of the country have introduced their versions of it. For instance, Nissan has NissanConnect and Toyota has its own telematics platform called Toyota Connect. Now though, Maruti Suzuki has joined the bandwagon by launching its telematics solution – Suzuki Connect. It is available as an add-on for Rs 9,999 with all the models which are retailed from Nexa. That means you can buy Suzuki Connect for Baleno, Ignis, S-Cross and the Ciaz. Don’t worry, the telematics solution isn’t limited to new car buyers only. If you already have any of the above-mentioned models and own an Android- or iOS-based phone, you can purchase Suzuki Connect.

So, what all features and services does Suzuki Connect bring to our lives? Quite a lot, actually! Here’s the list:

  • Emergency Alerts:
    • If the on-board TCU (Telematics Control Unit) detects an emergency situation, such as airbag deployment, this feature will come into play and send an alert to the buyer’s family/friends which will have GPS coordinates and vehicle details as well.
  • Preventive Assistance:
    • If your vehicle develops a detectable malfunction, Maruti Suzuki’s customer care will proactively get in touch with the buyer.
  • Vehicle Tracking:
    • Apart from sharing real-time tracking information, the telematics system also has features like tow away alert, Geo-fencing, live location sharing and navigation to the parked vehicle.
  • Driver Behaviour Analysis:
    • Based on how the car is being driven, the system will share analysis on economy, comfort and safety aspects along with trip details.
  • Live Vehicle Status:
    • Customers can remotely check aspects like seat belt fastened, the status of AC, odometer value and fuel level.
  • Convenience Alerts:
    • Apart from sending service reminders, the system can also be set to shoot alters in situations like over speeding and low fuel.

Maruti Suzuki Ciaz Facelift Teased; Launch Delayed

Maruti Suzuki says that Suzuki Connect has been developed and thoroughly tested in India. It is one of the many steps that the company will take for defining an ecosystem of “Connected Cars”. The company also claims that the telematics solution is difficult to tamper with. It has trained over 2,800 technicians across the country to properly install the equipment required for Suzuki Connect.

After paying the above-mentioned price, which is inclusive of all taxes, for the telematics solution, Maruti Suzuki will give you a subscription for a period of three years. That, by no means, is a bad deal.
