If you remember, Renault strengthened its aftersales service by introducing ‘Workshop on Wheels’ back in 2016. The idea was simple – the mobile four-wheeler could reach customers where a physical dealership wasn’t available nearby. That way, Renault could provide 90 per cent of workshop-related operations, including maintenance services and repairs.

The French carmaker has now introduced ‘Workshop on Wheels-Lite’ to further extend its reach. Like the previous initiative, the new one is a mobile workshop but on a two-wheeler. So, naturally, it cannot offer services as many as a four-wheeler mobile van can. But, all two-wheelers are still equipped with enough tools to address minor service, repairs and other related jobs for all Renault vehicles.

Renault says that with the 250+ Workshop on Wheels and Workshop on Wheels-Lite units in place, it now has more than 530 service touchpoints across India. This feat comes during a special year for the brand as it celebrates the 10th anniversary of its Indian operations.

Workshop on Wheels is one of the multiple initiatives that Renault has practised to boost its market share in smaller towns and cities, including rural markets. One such programme was ‘Vistaar’. Under that, dealerships recruited and trained over 630 sales consultants – called Resident Dealer Sales Executives. They were then deployed to reach customers in rural markets. Another example was ‘Rural Float’, which helped the carmaker showcase its newest offering – the Kiger – to potential customers in rural markets. As per Renault, it engaged over 23,000 people in 233 towns across 13 states. During that stint, more than 2,700 test drivers were provided.

Currently, Renault sells four models in India – Kiger, Kwid, Triber and Duster. However, the carmaker plans to expand its product portfolio by introducing new variants and all-new models. Amongst them will be turbocharged variants of the Triber. And apart from introducing more options for customers, it will also work on widening its presence in the country.
