Launching potent products is essential for grabbing attention. But visible presence plays a crucial role in defining a carmaker’s intent, regardless of which segment it plans to serve. Adding substance to the latter, Jeep has strengthened its network by opening the sixth showroom in Tamil Nadu. Run by VTK Automobiles Pvt. Ltd., it is the third 3S facility in the southern state. Not just that, it is also the second outlet for Jeep in Chennai. The same company also runs the first one.

The new facility spans over 16,500 sq. ft., out of which 4,000 sq. ft. is dedicated to an eight-car display area. As mentioned above, the new outlet follows the 3S model – Showroom, Spare and Service. In other words, it becomes a one-stop shop for all existing and new Jeep customers in the region. Besides the two outlets in Chennai, there’s one 3S facility in Trichy and one showroom in Salem, Coimbatore and Madurai.

Adding more touchpoints in Tamil Nadu makes for a strong business case. The state accounts for nearly 7 per cent of Jeep India’s overall sales, and the most substantial contribution comes from the capital city of Chennai.

Here’s what Nipun Mahajan, who is the head of Jeep India, said in an official release:

Jeep is on a progressive growth path in India, having recorded an impressive 144 per cent year-on-year growth this year. The locally-assembled Jeep Wrangler and the made-in-India Jeep Compass have shown remarkable retail performance in the premium SUV segments.

The American carmaker, which is now part of Stellantis automobile group, clocked a 13 per cent growth last month over the one before that. And it plans to keep that momentum going by further reinforcing its distribution network. That’ll come in handy when, next year, it launches the much-awaited premium SUV, one that sits between the Wrangler and the Compass. The new three-row model will compete against the Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster and two upcoming SUVs – the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace and the Skoda Kodiaq.
