Describing how NissanConnect is a vital part of the company’s Intelligent Mobility vision, Peter Clissold, vice president, marketing, Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd., said:

“The future of mobility lies in bringing innovative technologies. At Nissan, our vision is not just about bringing in better technologies but also enabling our customers to have a safe and stress-free car ownership experience. The more advanced and intelligent NissanConnect, will enable our customers to be more confident and in control of their vehicles even when they are not in it. NissanConnect enables 24×7 vigilance and keeps you updated on your car’s whereabouts so you can relax and go on with your life.”

The first derivative of NissanConnect was launched in 2017 and was engineered specifically for the Indian market by Renault Nissan Technology Business Centre India. It is a factory fitted Connected Car Technology solution with an embedded Telematics Control Unit. It communicates via an inbuilt SIM that is fitted to every Nissan car (variant specific) and keeps the data stored on a dedicated server.

There is a reason why Nissan is betting on the NissanConnect telematics suite. According to a study that the carmaker conducted, in collaboration with Kantar IMRB, 53 per cent respondents wanted to stay connected to their families, even while driving. However, the company did not mention the sample size it took for this study and nor did it state which cities of the country were included in this study.

Anyway, the NissanConnect suite will be activated by the dealer itself at time of delivery of the car. For those who don’t have it in their cars, can get it installed from the closest dealer.
