In December last year, Mercedes-Benz India launched the GLC facelift. The following month saw the introduction of the all-new GLE. Then came February 2020. At the Auto Expo, the German brand not only revealed prices for the V-Class Marco Polo and the AMG GT 63 S 4-Door Coupé but also begun accepting bookings for the A-Class Limousine and the new GLA. All-in-all, the company has kept everyone busy for the last three months or so.

After a short breather, the three-pointed star is back in action. It has now launched the GLC Coupé facelift in India. The curious-looking car arrives in two variants – 300 and 300d. The former gets a sticker price of Rs 62.7 lakh, whereas the latter costs Rs 63.7 lakh. For the uninitiated, this is the first time that Mercedes-Benz has launched non-AMG variants of the GLC Coupé.

The GLC 300 packs a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine which produces 255bhp/370Nm. Those who want a diesel-powered GLC Coupé will have to settle for the 300d, and that comes with a 1.95-litre turbocharged mill generating 241bhp/500Nm. Both powerplants come mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive (4MATIC) system. Mercedes-Benz claims that the petrol-powered GLC Coupé can hit 100kmph from a standstill in 6.3 seconds and reach 240kmph at full stretch. Those figures, in the same order, for the diesel GLC Coupé are 6.6 seconds and 233kmph.

In terms of features, both GLC Coupé variants get the same package. The list of gizmos includes cruise control, dual-zone climate control, electrically-adjustable front seats with memory function, 64-colour ambient lighting and a 10.25-inch touchscreen display with MBUX. If all that is a bit poor for your liking, then you should know that the car in question also boasts Mercedes Me connected car features, wireless mobile charger, auto headlamps and wipers, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and an electric sunroof.

The refreshed GLC Coupé becomes the tenth made-in-India product for Mercedes-Benz. In the market, it competes directly with the BMW X4 (Rs 60.6 – 65.9 lakh), which is also available in both petrol and diesel guises. Out of the two, which one would be your pick?
