They’ve done us all proud! Who? Those who went to the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo and represented close to 1.35 billion heartbeats. And we must celebrate their success, in whatever form we can. Tata Motors feels so too. That’s why it decided to honour 24 such Olympians who narrowly missed a podium finish at the global event. How? By handing over the keys to an Altroz.

A total of 24 Olympians become owners of Tata’s premium hatchback, finished in High Street Gold. They represented us in various categories, including Hockey, Boxing and Wrestling. Here’s the list of the recipients:

Here’s what Shailesh Chandra, who is the president of Passenger Vehicle Business at Tata Motors, said in an official statement:

We are extremely proud of our athletes for the sheer commitment and the indomitable spirit they showed at the recently held Tokyo Olympics and it is my honour to share the same platform with them today. Resonating their spirit and acknowledging their hard work, we are ecstatic to present to them the Tata Altroz, the gold standard in premium hatchbacks. As they continue to inspire each one of us, we wish them all the very best for their future and are confident that in years to come, they will bring to our country success galore.

Tata Motors offers the Altroz with one diesel and two petrol engine options. The only place where it lacks is in the gearbox department. Unfortunately, there’s still no automatic available. Nevertheless, the Altroz has set the benchmark for premium hatchbacks in India, especially in the safety department. It bagged a five-star safety rating from Global NCAP. It’s built on the ALFA (Agile Light Flexible Advanced) architecture, which will also do duty in another upcoming Tata model – the Punch. The micro SUV will launch during this year’s festive season and sit below the Nexon in Tata’s portfolio. And when it does, it’ll rival the Maruti Suzuki Ignis, Mahindra KUV100 and the Ford Freestyle.
