Saar: It will make its world premiere later this month at the 2018 Moscow International Motor Show.

Arkana! No, it isn’t an English word. Renault says that Arkana is derived from the Latin word ‘Arcanum’, which in English means secret. In a press release, the French automaker also said:

“The name Arkana underlines the uniqueness of the future crossover and its incredible magnetism. Concept of the Arkana model is associated with mystery, attractiveness and pioneer spirit.”

Well, we’ll all find out what it looks like at the 2018 Moscow International Motor Show, which will open its gates a week from now on August 29, 2018. Why did Renault choose Russia for Arkana’s world premiere? That’s because it will first go on sale in that country. The C-Segment crossover, which Renault believes will “break the mould of the SUV market”, will also be introduced in other countries and India could very well be on that list.

The new image shows a zoomed section of the rear end. The word Arkana is spread across the centre of the tailgate, with the Renault logo on top. Speaking of which, the logo is flanked by the swooping design of the taillamps. That enclosures seem to carry LED elements, which swerve downwards while moving away from the Renault logo.

It was in June this year when Renault first teased the Arkana crossover. Back then, the carmaker showcased a sketch of the front of the car. Actually, just half of the front section. But that did give us the idea about its design. The C-shaped DRLs surround the headlamp enclosures, which blend neatly into the studded front grille. The big Renault logo is mounted in the centre of the sleek grille. Look closely at the lower half of the front grille and you’d notice a front splitter, accompanying the lower section of the studded grille.

If Renault decides to land the Arkana in India, it would become a rival the Jeep Compass and the Hyundai Tucson. The only problem is, Renault India currently has the Captur crossover which hasn’t been a hit by any means. Will Renault replace the Captur with the Arkana? Only time will tell.
