The Renault Captur has had a difficult time in India. It never really managed to capture the imagination of customers who were in the market to drive home a well-packaged compact SUV. In order to draw some much-needed attention towards the Captur, the French carmaker has reduced the prices for three out of the seven variants of the SUV.

The ones which have received a price cut are RXT Petrol Dual Tone, RXT Diesel Dual Tone and Platine Diesel Dual Tone. The RXT Petrol Dual Tone is now priced at Rs 11.46 lakh, down by Rs 41,000, whereas the RXT Diesel Dual Tone now carries a price tag of Rs 12.67 lakh, reduced by Rs 60,000. It is the fully-loaded Platine Diesel Dual Tone variant that has received the biggest price cut. After a reduction of Rs 81,000, it is now retailing at Rs 13.25 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom Delhi).

The Renault Captur is available with both petrol and diesel engines. All petrol-powered variants house a 1.5-litre mill which produces 106PS/142Nm and a 5-speed manual transmission. The diesel ones, on the other hand, boast a 1.5-litre turbocharged motor which puts out 110PS/240Nm and a 6-speed manual transmission. The claimed mileage figures for the petrol- and diesel-fed Captur are 13.87kmpl and 20.37kmpl respectively.

The rest of the variants haven’t received any price revision. The Renault Captur in its base RXE Petrol still wears a price tag of Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). However, if you want an even better deal on a Renault Captur, you can get one on the units produced in 2018. Until the end of January 2019, Renault is offering cash benefits of Rs 1.2 lakh on RXE Petrol and RXE Diesel variants. If you want the RXL Diesel variant, you can avail cash benefits of Rs 2 lakh. The 2018 manufactured units of the variants which have received a price cut (as mentioned above) are available with cash benefits of Rs 1.7 lakh.

The compact SUV space is set to receive new models this year, starting with the Nissan Kicks which will borrow the powertrain options from the Renault Captur. The segment is currently ruled by the Hyundai Creta, which has faced competition from the Nissan Terrano and the Renault Duster.
