Mercedes-Benz India is well on its way to make this calendar year its best-ever. The company grew by a 12.4 per cent during the January to June 2018 window when compared to the corresponding period from last year. Math lovers can bring their calculators and work it out if they want. In 2017, the total retail sales figure was 7,171, whereas this year that figure has risen to 8,061.

By diving deeper into the sales numbers and segregating them between sedans and SUVs, Mercedes-Benz India said that the former portfolio grew by 15.2 per cent and the latter grew by 15.9 per cent. While there is no surprise that SUVs portfolio grew better than the sedans but it is interesting to notice how close their respective growth figures are.

Roland Folger, MD and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, reiterated this feat. He said:

“Our sales performance is in line with our expectation despite last year’s extraordinary demand in Q2, owing to the anticipation of GST implementation. With our wide range of new generation cars, sedans, SUVs and the performance cars, we are confident to continue the drive, we set for ourselves in the first half.”

The C-Class has also been racking up impressive sales figures, said Mercedes-Benz India. On the SUVs front, the GLC garnered the most sales numbers, followed by GLE and the GLS.
