Saar: A total of 5,397 units have been recalled, covering both the pre- and post-facelift iterations.

The Indian arm of the American carmaker, Ford, has issued a voluntary recall for its sub-4 metre SUV – the EcoSport. A total of 5,397 units will be inspected under this campaign. Out of the lot, 4,379 cars are from one period and the rest, 1,018 from another.

Let’s unravel the bigger chunk first. Ford has recalled 4,379 units of the EcoSport which were manufactured between May 2017 and June 2017. That means those were the pre-facelift models of the sub-4 metre SUV. That company has said that there could be an issue with the weld integrity of the front lower control arm, which can potentially affect the steering control on the car.

The remainder, 1,018 units of the Ford EcoSport, which were produced between November 2017 and December 2017, have been recalled under this campaign. This lot affects the refreshed (post-facelift) EcoSport, which was launched in November last year. Ford says that it wants to check the cars for a potential problem with the driver and front passenger seat recliner locks.

Needless to say, inspection and repair, if need be, will be carried out at no cost to the customer. Ford will be getting in touch with the owners of the all affected lot of cars in the coming days. If you own a Ford EcoSport and if you know that yours was manufactured during either of the aforementioned periods, you should get in touch with the nearest dealer immediately to get an appointment for the fix.

Ford And Volkswagen Ink MoU To Explore Strategic Alliance

After launching the refreshed EcoSport last year, Ford added a couple of variants to its kitty in May 2018. Later this year, Ford India will be launching the mid-life updates of the Figo and the Figo Aspire models, both of which have struggled to wow the mass-market in India.
