Saar: The crossover now comes with a speed alert warning system, rear parking sensors and the front passenger-side seat-belt reminder with buzzer as standard.

Last month, Maruti Suzuki launched the mid-life update of the Ciaz in India. Apart from receiving a bunch of cosmetic changes inside and out, the sedan also got a few new features which, up until now, were exclusive to it. Not anymore! Maruti Suzuki has silently updated the S-Cross in India. The company has beefed-up the features list and also the prices.

With this update, the S-Cross’ safety quotient has been raised. As standard, the crossover now comes with a speed alert warning system, rear parking sensors and the front passenger-side seat-belt reminder with a buzzer. The Delta trim, which is second from bottom in the hierarchy tree, gets more features than before. The list includes:

  • 16-inch alloy wheels
  • Electrically foldable ORVMs with turn indicators
  • Rear wiper with washer
  • Rear demister
  • Automatic climate control
  • Push button start/stop, and
  • Cruise control

With the refreshed feature list out of the way, let’s take a look at the new price list:

As before, the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross continues to be offered with just one engine-transmission option. Under the hood lives a Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre turbo-diesel engine that puts out 90PS of power and 200Nm of torque. The motor comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission that routes the power to the road via the front two wheels only. Maruti Suzuki claims that its five-seater crossover can return a mileage of up to 25.1kmpl.

Maruti Suzuki To Begin Testing EVs From October

With the updated recipe, the S-Cross has certainly become one of the best all-rounders in its segment. It competes with the Hyundai Creta, Renault Captur, Nissan Terrano and the Renault Duster. In a few weeks’ time, Maruti Suzuki will launch the second-generation Ertiga MPV in India. Apart from housing the same 1.5-litre petrol engine that debuted with the Ciaz facelift, the new Ertiga is also tipped to become the launching platform for Maruti Suzuki’s in-house developed 1.5-litre diesel engine.
