Saar: The sedan is available in eleven variants, covering two engine and transmission options each.

Maruti Suzuki launched the Ciaz facelift yesterday, at a starting price of Rs 8.19 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It is available in eleven variants, covering two engine and transmission options each. With the mid-life update, the Ciaz gets a bunch of cosmetic updates inside and out as well as an enhanced feature list. Before we start listing the variant-wise features in the refreshed Ciaz, let’s get the standard stuff out of the way.

Even though the Ciaz facelift gets more in its kitty than before, all the diesel-fed variants are now more affordable than before. Hats off to Maruti Suzuki for this! However, all the petrol-powered variants have become dearer. That’s courtesy of a brand-new mill that now powers the Ciaz. It is a good time then to look at the engine, transmission and mileage figures of the sedan.

With those figures out of the way, time for us to list the variant-wise features. As before, we’ll only be mentioning gizmos that can potentially act as deal makers or breakers.

Variant – Sigma

Here’s the list of main features that the refreshed Ciaz gets in its base trim:

  • Halogen projector headlamps
  • Electrically adjustable ORVMs with turn indicators
  • 15-inch steel rims with wheel covers
  • MID (petrol variant gets coloured TFT MID)
  • Keyless entry
  • Rear AC vents
  • Two 12V sockets
  • Multi-function steering wheel
  • 6-speaker audio system with CD player, USB and Bluetooth
  • Rear defogger
  • Rear parking sensors
  • Seatbelt reminder (front seats)
  • Speed Alert System
  • Dual Airbags
  • ABS with EBD
  • ISOFIX anchorages

Considering the price tag, especially for the petrol-fed one, the entry-level variant is handsomely loaded. The only real misses here include the option of an automatic transmission and the touchscreen infotainment system.

Variant – Delta

The list of main features, over and above the Sigma variant, includes:

  • 15-inch alloy wheels
  • Cruise control
  • Automatic AC
  • Electronic Stability Control (AT only)
  • Height adjustable driver’s seat
  • Front fog lamps

That list, as you can see, isn’t the biggest. But consider this. The difference in prices between the manual Sigma and Delta variants is Rs 61,000. We believe that with the alloy wheels, a set of which would cost between Rs 25-30,000 at least, and other added features, the Delta variant is reasonably priced. And, at the same price as the manual diesel, you can get the petrol automatic.

Variant – Zeta

Given below are the list of features that the Zeta variant of the Ciaz facelift gets over the Delta variant:

  • LED projector headlamps
  • LED DRLs
  • LED elements in taillamps
  • Rear seat adjustable headrest
  • Push-button start/stop
  • Electrically foldable ORVMs
  • Rear sunshade
  • Footwell lamps in front
  • LED-powered front fog lamps
  • Auto day/night IRVM with camera display
  • Reverse parking camera
  • Rear reading lamps
  • Sunglasses holder

The manual Zeta variants cost Rs 77,000 more than the manual Delta variants. Sure, you get a lot more for your money but we still can’t fathom the fact that there is still no touchscreen infotainment in the list. If you’ve set your eyes on the Zeta variants, we’d recommend that you send a little bit more and get the range-topping Alpha.

Variant – Alpha

Here’s the list of features that the Ciaz facelift gets in its Alpha variant over the Zeta:

  • 16-inch alloy wheels
  • Leather seat upholstery
  • 0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and MirrorLink
  • In-built GPS navigation
  • Voice command system

For a set of bigger alloy wheels, better upholstery and a touchscreen infotainment system, which has a lot going for itself, Maruti Suzuki is asking for Rs 40,000 over the price of the Zeta variants. It is worth noting that the Alpha variants lose the support to play media from a CD. And, the Ciaz still doesn’t get a sunroof.

Maruti Suzuki is offering the Ciaz facelift in seven different colours – Metallic Magma Gray, Pearl Midnight Black, Nexa Blue, Pearl Sangria Red, Pearl Metallic Dignity Brown, Metallic Premium Silver and Pearl Snow White. It is safe to say that in its refreshed avatar, the Ciaz is a more complete package. It still offers the best bang on the buck value compared to its rivals – the Hyundai Verna, Honda City, Toyota Yaris, Volkswagen Vento and the Skoda Rapid. Here’s how the competition is priced in India.
