Saar: Mahindra’s flagship product will not only be feature-loaded but also bring a new loyalty programme with it, called the Purple Club+.

Mahindra will be launching its new flagship offering, the Alturas G4, on November 24, 2018. Bookings for the SUV commenced earlier this month, with a minimum token amount of Rs 50,000. Now, with the D-Day fast approaching, Mahindra couldn’t keep the excitement to itself and has revealed more details about the Alturas G4. Before we get to those, let’s just recap on what all we knew about it so far.

The first thing was that it will be offered in two variants – 2WD AT and 4WD AT with additional features. We also knew that the SUV will be available in five paint shades – New Pearl White, Napoli Black, Lakeside Brown, Dsat Silver and Regal Blue. The car would start arriving at dealerships across the country from November 26, 2018, and it will be retailed through a separate section within Mahindra’s “World of SUVs” dealerships. Mahindra also mentioned that the Alturas G4 would lock horns with similar products from the Rs 30+ lakh price range.

Mahindra has now unravelled what all features will be offered with the Alturas G4. The list includes an 8-way powered driver’s seat with memory function, two-zone climate control, nine airbags, a 3D 360-degree view camera, ventilated seats and active roll-over protection. To ensure that all Mahindra Alturas G4 customers get distinguished service, they will be given exclusive relationship managers.

In a press release, Veejay Ram Nakra, chief of sales and Marketing, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., said:

“The Alturas G4 is our most luxurious offering till date and will come with a host of technology & safety features, many of which are not available in vehicles in a similar price range. We have always been a pioneer when it comes to creating industry benchmarks and the Alturas G4 will be no different. We are certain that with the Alturas G4, we would redefine the high-end SUV segment.”

Alongside the launch of the Alturas G4, Mahindra will also introduce a loyalty programme. Dubbed as the Purple Club+, “it would enable customers to earn and redeem points based on engagements with the brand.”

As far as details about the powertrain are concerned, they haven’t been confirmed yet. That said, the Mahindra Alturas is tipped to house a BS VI-compliant 2.2-litre diesel engine with 181PS/400Nm on tap. It will come mated to a Mercedes-Benz-sourced 7-speed E-Tronic automatic transmission.

Once launched, the Mahindra Alturas G4 will compete with the likes of the Isuzu MU-X, Ford Endeavour, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and the Toyota Fortuner. Monocoque SUVs such as the Volkswagen Tiguan and the Skoda Kodiaq also fall in the same price bracket.
