Saar: The MPV took about a month-and-a-half to reach this milestone.

Mahindra’s latest UV, the Marazzo, has started its innings promisingly. The MPV has garnered over 10,000 bookings and took about a month and a half to achieve this feat. Launched on September 3, 2018, and available in four variants, the Mahindra Marazzo has a lot going for itself. Not only it became the first car that has a pinch of Pininfarina design magic but also introduced an all-new diesel engine.

Here’s what Veejay Nakra, who is the chief of sales and marketing in the automotive sector at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., said in an official statement:

“We thank our customers for the tremendous response and are delighted with the number of bookings received for the Marazzo within just one month. This reaffirms the immense popularity Marazzo has garnered in such short time. Marazzo has been highly appreciated by the auto community and buyers alike for its excellent value proposition.”

At present, the Mahindra Marazzo is available with just one engine-transmission combination. The new 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine (BS IV-compliant) puts out 123PS of power and 300Nm of torque. It comes mated to a 6-speed manual transmission which feeds the oomph to the front wheels only. Speaking of which, the Mahindra Marazzo is the first car to be underpinned by a ladder-on-frame chassis and is driven the front wheels only. The ARAI mileage figure for the Marazzo is 17.6kmpl.

Mahindra claims that the engine will be upgraded to meet the stricter BS-VI norms at a later stage. Closer to the date, i.e. April 1, 2020, when all new cars have to feature a BS VI- complaint engine, Mahindra will also introduce the options of a petrol engine and an automatic transmission.

The Mahindra Marazzo currently carries an introductory pricelist, which starts at Rs 9.99 lakh and goes all the way up to Rs 13.90 lakh (both prices are ex-showroom India). The MPV, which available in both 7- and 8-seat configurations, competes with the likes Toyota Innova Crysta, Renault Lodgy and the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga.
