Brace yourselves! Lamborghini will unleash its Aventador SVJ in India on December 17, 2018. We already have the mad Aventador S, but the SVJ is a bit more. Unveiled at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, which was a venue for the 2018 Monterey Car Week, the Aventador SVJ is the maddest, road-legal iteration of Lambo’s flagship model. Its life is limited as only 900 units will ever be made, until, of course, Lamborghini decides otherwise.

Powering the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ is the same, naturally-aspirated 6.5-litre V12 engine that does duty in the Aventador S. But, the SVJ has more oomph – 770PS/720Nm to be exact. That’s 30PS/30Nm more than the S. Coupled to the engine is a 7-speed, single-clutch automatic transmission which feeds the power to all four wheels. With a dry weight of 1,525 kg, the Aventador SVJ boasts a weight-to-power ratio of 1.98PS/kg.

Lamborghini claims that Aventador SVJ can hit 100kmph and 200kmph from a standstill in 2.8 seconds and 8.6 seconds, respectively. Strangely, the exact top speed hasn’t been listed, but it is surely north of 350kmph. Thanks to the tweaked aerodynamics and a reworked ALA (Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva) 2.0 system, the SVJ have not only more downforce but also less drag. And if find yourself in an emergency while on the move, the Lamborghini SVJ can come to a complete halt from 100kmph in just 30 metres.

Just in case you are wondering, the acronym SVJ stands for Super Veloce Jota. In Italian, Super Veloce translates to super fast and the term Jota has always been reserved by Lamborghini for its track-focused monsters. The Aventador SVJ held the lap record at the Nürburgring for production cars for a while. It dethroned the Porsche 911 GT2 RS by lapping the north-loop in 6 minutes and 44.97 seconds. That’s 2.33 seconds quicker than the Porsche. However, Lamborghini couldn’t hold on to the bragging rights as Porsche, with its 911 GT2 RS MR, became the quickest road-legal production car around the ‘Green Hell’ in November this year.

A car nutter by heart. A hopeless engineer by education. Gunning for one goal - simplify cars.
