Saar: The king of the ‘ring is powered by a naturally-aspirated 6.5-litre V12 with 770PS/720Nm on tap.

After dethroning the Porsche 911 GT2 RS and becoming the new lap-record holder for production cars at the Nürburgring-Nordschleife, the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ has finally shed its cover. In case you are wondering, the SV stands for Super Veloce, which is Italian for superfast, and the J is for Jota, a tag that Lamborghini has always reserved for track-focused sports cars. The Lamborghini Aventador SVJ has a limited life, with just 900 units to roll out of the factory floor.

The car showcased at Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, which is a venue for the 2018 Monterey Car Week, is a special edition Aventador SVJ. It is, in fact, dubbed as the SVJ 63 to pay homage to Lamborghini’s founding year of 1963. To make it stand out, the Italians have been overly generous in using carbon fibre in its package and only 63 such samples will ever be made. So, in short, the SVJ 63 is a limited edition of the limited edition SVJ. We know we are good at these kinds of things!

Powering all specimens of the Aventador SVJ is a naturally-aspirated, 6.5-litre V12 engine that produces a colossal 770PS of power and 720Nm of torque. Those figures make this spec of the V12 as one of the most powerful engines which don’t feature any kind of supercharging or turbocharging. Mated to the 12-cylinder monster is a reworked version of the 7-speed, single-clutch automatic transmission which routes the power to all four wheels.

With a dry weight of 1,525kg, which gives the king of the ‘ring a weight-to-power ratio of 1.98kg/PS, the Aventador SVJ can hit 100kmph and 200kmph from a standstill in 2.8 seconds and 8.6 seconds respectively. Lamborghini isn’t sure what the top speed of its latest Jota-tagged model is but it is definitely more than 350kmph. Oh, in case you want to stop as quickly as possible from 100kmph, the Aventador SVJ will do that in just 30 metres.

Apart from adding extra oomph, Lamborghini has also been busy in tweaking the aerodynamics. Compared to the standard SV, the SVJ has 40 per cent more downforce and 1 per cent less drag. Lamborghini says that the aerodynamic trickery of the upper body has contributed to 70 per cent to the total downforce. The rest of the 30 per cent comes from the tweaked underbody aero design. Helping the car to be agile and planted on the move is the reworked ALA (Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva) 2.0. That’s Lambo’s way of tagging an active aerodynamic system.

The first set of customers can expect the delivery of their Lamborghini Aventador SVJ at the beginning of next year. In Europe, it is priced at EUR 349,116 without taxes. At the current exchange rate, that would cost just over Rs 2.83 crore (without import duties and other taxes). Want one? If you do get one, can we have a go?!
