It seems Maruti Suzuki really wants to drive the “festive mood” home as it launches not one, nor two but three “Festival Edition” models in a single day. To be more precise, there’s now a Festival Edition of the Alto, Celerio and the WagonR each. If you opt for one of those, the dealer will fit a kit of accessories over and above the car’s standard list of features. Here’s what each of them gets:

Festival Editions
  • Alto
    • Addons include a Pioneer touchscreen infotainment system, 6-inch Kenwood speakers, security system, dual-tone seat covers and a steering wheel cover.
    • Price (over and above the ex-showroom): Rs 25,490.
  • Celerio
    • Addons include a Sony double-din music system with Bluetooth, seat covers, piano black bodyside mouldings and designer mats.
    • Price (over and above the ex-showroom): Rs 25,990.
  • WagonR
    • Addons include protectors on the front and rear bumpers, front upper grille chrome garnish, side skirts, seat covers and an interior styling kit.
    • Price (over and above the ex-showroom): Rs 29,990.

Now, the first thing that strikes the mind is whether to opt for dealer-fitted packages or spend that money in the aftermarket where you might get more for your money? That, by all means, is a valid question. But, if you get the Festival Edition package from an authorised dealer, it won’t harm the warranty of the car. Whereas, if you get something fitted from a non-authorised accessories store, it can hamper the warranty.

In an official release, Shashank Srivastava, who is the executive director of marketing & sales at Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, said:

The entry car segment has witnessed a surge in demand this year. Maruti Suzuki’s stalwarts – Alto, WagonR and Celerio collectively contribute 75% of the entry segment and have driven the revival of entry segment cars.

Last month, Maruti Suzuki introduced a similar addon for the Swift. That one, however, was called the Limited Edition Pack. Earlier this month, India’s largest carmaker initiated a recall for over 40,000 Eeco units for a possible compliance issue. And yesterday, Global NCAP’s crash-test report for the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso came to light.
