Saar: The newly launched Hyundai Creta facelift will not be affected.

After launching the mid-life update of the Creta yesterday, Hyundai Motor India has today announced that prices for its products will be hiked by up to 2 per cent from June 2018. The only vehicle which won’t be affected by the upcoming revision in prices is the newly launched Hyundai Creta facelift.

Rakesh Srivastava, director, sales and marketing, Hyundai Motor India Ltd. (HMIL) explained the reason behind this decision of price increase. He said:

“ We have been absorbing the increase in input costs with increase in commodity prices, freight increase with hike in fuel prices and also the increase in custom duties of certain components. We are now constrained to pass the same to customers in our products with increase up to 2 per cent from June 2018.”

Hyundai i20 Active Mildly And Quietly Updated In India

Apart from the Creta, Hyundai sells eight other models in India. The list comprises of the Eon, Grand i10, Xcent, Elite i20, i20 Active, Verna, Elantra and the Tucson. Since the upcoming price hike is expected to top out at 2 per cent, we can expect the Tucson, which is the most expensive product in HMIL’s portfolio, to receive the maximum price hike. Currently, the prices for the Hyundai Tucson start from Rs 18 lakh and go all the way up to Rs 25.44 lakh (both prices ex-showroom Delhi). Do the math and the maximum price hike for the Tucson will be around Rs 51,000 rupees for its range-topping 4WD diesel variant.

Hyundai Creta Facelift: Variants Explained

In the near future, Hyundai is expected to add a couple of CVT-equipped variants in Elite i20’s variant list. If the report from Autocar India is to be believed, the CVT will be coupled to the 1.2-litre petrol engine and will only be offered in the Magna and Asta trims. Although Hyundai has yet to officially confirm whether this will be happening but the publication in question has managed to procure the prices of the duo as well. The Magna CVT and the Asta CVT have been reportedly priced at Rs 7.04 lakh and Rs 8.16 lakh (both prices ex-showroom Delhi) respectively.
