Saar: With three engines, two transmissions, and varied features, the Hyundai Creta facelift is available in thirteen variants.

After months of speculation, fake leaked information and an agonising wait, the Hyundai Creta facelift is finally amongst us. We have to confess that even we fell for one of the fake leaked information stories that were doing rounds of the internet earlier this month. But now, we have a chance to redeem ourselves with this story. Before diving into variant-wise feature list, let’s get the price-list and the mechanical stuff out of the way.

With three engines, two transmissions, and varied features, the Hyundai Creta facelift is available in thirteen variants. That’s one less than before. Prices for the refreshed Creta have seen an upward push, with the pre-facelift model’s price ranging between Rs 9.29 lakh and Rs 14.60 lakh. That said, the mid-life update of the Creta does have more features on offer. More on that later. Listed below are the engine and transmission options available with the Hyundai Creta facelift:

Right then. Without wasting more time, let’s quickly get cracking on what each variant of the Hyundai Creta facelift has to offer. As always, we will be mentioning those features which can potentially make or break the deal for you.

Variant – E

Here’s the list of main features in the entry-level of the Hyundai Creta facelift:

  • Dual airbags
  • ABS with EBD
  • Front seatbelts with pretensioner
  • Impact sensing auto door unlock
  • Speed sensing auto door lock
  • Body coloured ORVMs, door handles, and bumpers (dual tone)
  • Follow-me-home headlamps
  • Keyless entry with foldable key
  • Manual AC
  • Front 12V accessory socket
  • Sliding front armrest with storage
  • Rear AC vents
  • All four power windows
  • Height adjustable driver’s seat
  • Tilt adjustable steering

Considering that this variant is the least expensive of the lot, it is pretty handsomely specced. That said, you do miss out on some basics such as a music system, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs, fog lamps and parking sensors.

Variant – E+

As mentioned above, the ‘E+’ is available in two engine-transmission combinations – 1.4-litre diesel-manual and 1.6-litre petrol-manual. Listed below are the features that the ‘E+’ variant gets over and above the ‘E’:

  • LED turn indicators on ORVMs
  • IC Light Adjustment (Rheostat) – Petrol only
  • Electrically adjustable ORVMs
  • Front USB charger – Petrol only
  • Front 12V accessory socket – Diesel only
  • Luggage lamp
  • Front map lamp – Petrol only
  • Sunglasses holder – Petrol only
  • Four speakers
  • 5.0-inch touchscreen infotainment with USB/Bluetooth/onboard 1GB memory – Petrol only
  • Steering mounted controls from audio and Bluetooth – Petrol only
  • Hyundai i-Blue (Audio Remote Application) and front two tweeters – Petrol only

This particular variant of the Hyundai Creta facelift is a rather confusing one to opt for. If you are interested in the diesel-manual combo, you don’t really get much more than the entry-level ‘E’ variant. However, the petrol-manual combo gets you more features in exchange for less mileage. Both are priced at Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

Variant – S

If you are after the automatic transmission, the ‘S’ will get that for you with the 1.6-litre diesel engine. Here’s what this variant has to offer over the ‘E+’ variant:

  • Rear parking sensors
  • Rear camera with steering adaptive parking guidelines display
  • Front fog lamps
  • Rear defogger with timer
  • 16-inch alloy wheels
  • LED DRLs
  • Roof rails
  • Rear parcel tray
  • Rear armrest with cupholders
  • Rear power outlet
  • Rear headrest

Apart from these, all the ‘petrol only’ features from the ‘E+’ variant come as standard. What is weird though that the front power outlet is not offered on any variant from ‘S’ and above. Another surprising omission in the lesser two variants was the rear headrests and are offered only from the ‘S’ variant onwards.

Variant – SX

This variant has four engine-transmission combinations on offer. That’s more than any other variant of the Hyundai Creta facelift. In terms of features, the ‘SX’ trumps the ‘S’ by offering:

  • ISOFIX anchorages – with automatic transmission only
  • 17-inch alloy wheels – with automatic transmission only
  • Bi-functional projector headlamps
  • Cornering lamps
  • LED positioning lamps
  • Shark fin antenna
  • Leather steering and gear lever
  • Metallic door scuff plates
  • Electric sunroof – with automatic transmission only
  • Cruise control
  • Smart key with push button start
  • Automatic climate control
  • Air ionizer
  • Electrically foldable ORVMs
  • Rear wiper with washer
  • Driver side auto up-down power window
  • 60:40 split rear seat – with automatic transmission only
  • 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink
  • Arkamys sound mood

That is a long list of added features which were missing in the lesser variants. Apart from the ‘automatic only’ features, the SX does seem to offer quite a bit for the asking price. That said, it is also sad to see that Hyundai would skip the ISOFIX safety for child seats until the SX variant. That really worrying bit is that ISOFIX is limited to the SX-AT variants only.

Variant – SX Dual Tone

As the variant nomenclature would lead you to believe, the SX Dual Tone isn’t very different from the standard ‘SX’. Here’s what this variant gets over and above the ‘SX’:

  • Piano black glossy finish roof
  • All black dashboard with silver highlights
  • Tangerine Orange Colour Pack
  • 17-inch alloy wheels
  • Auto link connected car technology

Compared to the ‘SX’ variant, the SX Dual Tone misses out on 60:40 split rear seats and the optional electric sunroof. Moreover, the chrome garnish at the tailgate, which is available with the ‘SX’ variant, is replaced by body coloured panels. Needless to say, you’d opt for this variant if you want a dual-tone paint job. With the black roof, the only two colours available for the body are Passion Orange and Polar White.

Variant – SX (O)

This variant is available with the same two engine-transmission combinations as the SX Dual Tone: petrol-manual and diesel-manual. Even though this is the range-topper for the Hyundai Creta facelift, it doesn’t get the option of an automatic transmission. Feature-wise, it outshines the SX Dual Tone with:

  • Six airbags
  • Electronic Stability Control
  • Vehicle Stability Management Control
  • Hill Start Assist
  • Automatic IRVM
  • Height adjustable front seatbelts
  • Leather seats, console armrest and door armrest
  • Supervision cluster
  • Electric sunroof
  • 6-way power adjustable driver’s seat
  • Smart key band
  • Wireless mobile charger

Even with an asking price of over Rs 15 lakh, Hyundai hasn’t given the added safety of ISOFIX anchorages or a 60:40 split rear seat. What’s more, height adjustable seatbelts are only offered in the top-spec trim, which is unquestionably weird. That said, some of the segment-first features like a wireless mobile phone charger, standard electric sunroof, smart key band and electrically adjustable driver’s seat make this variant stand out.

So, there you have it. Every single detail covered for the newly launched Hyundai Creta facelift. Surely, it does raise the bar against the likes of the Renault siblings – Captur and Duster, Nissan Terrano and the Honda BR-V. But is the revised package enough to tackle the storm that the Jeep Compass has brought? Only time will tell.
