Earlier this month, Hyundai confirmed that it’s all set to introduce a range of N Line models in India. Well, the first of the lot has debuted today. No points for guessing; it is the i20 N Line. Bookings for the car are now open, with Hyundai asking for a minimum token amount of Rs 25,000. And yes, one can make the transaction online, via the ‘Click To Buy’ section, and offline by connecting with the nearest Hyundai Select dealer. Those are the same ones that also retail the Alcazar.

Design

It is an aggressive one. The N Line treatment introduces several cosmetic changes. Outdoors, the car gets a new chequered flag-inspired grille with an ‘N Line’ logo, a different bumper with a splitter and 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. In addition, the side skirts and both bumpers feature red accents. Hyundai has even coloured the front brake callipers red. Finally, there’s a tailgate spoiler with side wings, some chrome garnish joining the taillamps and a diffuser with twin exhaust outlets. Hyundai will offer the i20 N Line in dual-tone finishes as well.

Indoors, the standard all-black theme gets red highlights, such as the stitching on the seats and the ambient lighting. Apart from that, the i20 N Line comes with an exclusive three-spoke steering wheel, metal pedals and leatherette seats with a chequered flag design and N logos. Even the gear lever has the ‘N’ branding.

Mechanicals

Besides updating the suspension for better high-speed stability, the i20 N Line gets the same 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine as the standard car. It pumps out 118bhp/172Nm and can be coupled with a 6-speed iMT or the 7-speed DCT. The claimed mileage figures are 20kmpl and 20.25kmpl, respectively.

Creature Comforts

In all likelihood, the i20 N Line will be based on the range-topping Asta trim. That means features like LED projector headlamps, up to six airbags, a 7-speaker Bose sound system, an electric sunroof and cruise control will be part of the package. The list also includes a 10.25-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging with a cooling pad and Hyundai Blue Link connected-car technology.

Colour options

It will be available in four monotone shades and two dual-tone finishes. The former category includes Thunder Blue (new and exclusive), Fiery Red, Titan Grey and Polar White. The latter comprises Thunder Blue and Fiery Red body colours with a roof finished in Phantom black.

Finally…

Hyundai could launch the i20 N Line in the first week of September 2021. Predictably, it’ll cost more than the standard car, which tops out at Rs 11.4 lakh (ex-showroom). Excited?
