For all those planning to purchase a sub-4 metre sedan, here’s one you must check out. It is the refreshed Honda Amaze. Compared to the pre-facelift model, the revised one looks sharper and offers more creature comforts. However, before we get into all that, let’s take a look at the price list:

To keep confusion to the minimum, Honda has kept the list of trim levels down to three. However, it is worth pointing out that those opting for either of the entry-level E variants will get the Amaze in the pre-facelift form. So, if you want the revised look, you’d have to pay an ex-showroom price of at least Rs 7.16 lakh.

So, what’s new? As suspected, the refreshed Honda Amaze gets a redesigned front grille, revised front bumper and new 15-inch diamond-cut, dual-tone alloy wheels. Go for the range-topping VX trim, and the car will come with automatic LED projector headlamps with DRLs and LED-powered front fog lamps. Besides those, the car also comes with chrome-draped door handles and reprofiled taillamps, which now features C-shaped LED units.

Indoors, the changes are hard to spot. But, concentrate harder, and you’ll notice the dashboard, and the steering wheel, now feature some stylish silver accents. In addition, manual variants get a leather surround for the gear lever. The new Amaze also comes with a chrome finish on the AC knobs, front map lamps and a dust and pollen filter. Features like the 7.0-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cruise control and automatic climate control are reserved for the top-tier derivatives.

The new Amaze carries forward the same set of powertrains as the older model. Those who want a petrol-powered car will have to settle for the 1.2-litre engine, which produces 89bhp/110Nm. On the other hand, Diesel fans will get a 1.5-litre unit that pumps out 98bhp/200Nm with the 5-speed manual transmission and 79bhp/160Nm with the CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission). The petrol motor also gets the same gearbox options. Here’s how the claimed mileage figures stand:

  • Petrol-MT: 18.6kmpl
  • Petrol-CVT: 18.3kmpl
  • Diesel-MT: 24.7kmpl
  • Diesel-CVT: 21.0kmpl

Honda’s offering the new Amaze in five colours – Platinum White Pearl, Radiant Red, Lunar Silver, Golden Brown and the new Meteoroid Grey. And for that added punch, the carmaker has introduced fourteen new accessories for the subcompact sedan. As for the standard warranty, that’s for 3 years/unlimited kilometres.

In India, the Honda Amaze competes with the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Ford Aspire, Hyundai Aura and the Tata Tigor. So, would you buy the new Amaze over its rivals?
