Planning to purchase a BMW or a Mini? Get it booked before January 3, 2021, because the following day, January 4, 2021, will see BMW Group India enforce a new price list. That, predictably, will have hiked prices of all BMW and Mini models. By how much? The maximum bump will be about 2 per cent. The decision has been put in the pipeline to offset the increasing input costs. This is the second price hike announcement from BMW Group India in less than three months. In November 2020, the group increased prices by up to 3 per cent. And the reason was precisely the same.

BMW Group India sells a range of models, which includes both locally-assembled as well as imported (CBU) products. Falling in the former category are cars like the 3 Series (including Gran Turismo), 5 Series, 6 Series Gran Turismo, X4, X5, X7, 7 Series and the Mini Countryman. The latter one includes models such as 8 Series Gran Coupe, Mini Clubman, X6, M2 Competition, M5 Competition, Mini 5-Door and Mini Convertible.

After launching the 2 Series Gran Coupe in October, BMW India introduced a Black Shadow Edition of the four-door model earlier this month. In November, the company landed two imported models – the X5 M Competition and the X3 M. As for Mini, it launched the Convertible Sidewalk Edition in October, followed by the John Cooper Works GP Inspired Edition last month. In 2020, Mini launched just three products, and all were special editions. The one missing is the Clubamn Indian Summer Red Edition, which received a price tag back in February 2020.

In 2021, we’ll get the refreshed versions of the BMW 5 Series and the 6 Series Gran Turismo. Both will compete with the likes of the Volvo S90, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Audi A6 and the Jaguar XF.
