It was only a week ago when Audi confirmed that the A4 facelift had entered production in India. Now, we have another noteworthy development. The German carmaker has officially started accepting bookings for the model mentioned above. One can do so online or by visiting the nearest Audi dealership and paying the minimum token amount of Rs 2 lakh. Unveiled globally in May last year, the sedan will become Audi India’s first launch of 2021.

Those who reserve one during the pre-bookings period will get a 4-year comprehensive service package. The car in question will restart its Indian innings with just one powertrain – a petrol-automatic. To be more precise, the A4 facelift will come with the same 2.0-litre turbocharged engine that powers the Q2 and the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace. With 188bhp/320Nm and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, the Audi sedan can hit 100kmph from a standstill in 7.3 seconds.

Audi India will offer the refreshed A4 in multiple trim levels. Shared amongst them will be stuff like a 10.1-inch MMI infotainment system, Audi Connect Services, support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and multi-zone climate control. Other features such as keyless go, auto-dimming IRVM and ORVMs, cruise control and a rear-view camera will also be on offer.

Next year, we’ll witness the launch of several Audi products, including the all-new Q3, S5 Sportback and the Q5 facelift. We could also see the introduction of the Q7 facelift. Audi has battled through 2020 on the backfoot. Not only has it had to swerve around the challenges COVID-19 posed but also competed with a lean list of BS6-compliant (Bharat Stage 6) products. Perhaps, with a flurry of launches lined-up, the brand’s Indian arm will finally give the competition a run for their money. What do you think?
