Last month, Audi India announced that the new Q7 had entered the local assembly line at Aurangabad. Now, we have another development – the bookings counter is officially open. The refreshed SUV is up for grabs in two variants – Premium Plus and Technology. And the minimum token amount has been set at Rs 5 lakh. Those interested can book one either via Audi’s website or by contacting the nearest dealership.

Like its stablemates, the new Q7 is a petrol-only model. As a result, both variants will house the same 3.0-litre V6 TFSI engine that also does duty in the A8 L limousine. That pumps out 335bhp and 500Nm of peak torque, while an 8-speed dual-clutch handles transmission duties. Aiding the internal combustion engine for improving fuel efficiency and acceleration is a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. And yes, the Quattro all-wheel-drive system will be a standard feature as well. With that setup, the new Q7 can hit 100kmph from a standstill in 5.9 seconds and reach an electronically-limited top speed of 250kmph.

As you’d expect, the list of creature comforts is lengthy. It includes Adaptive Air Suspension, Audi Drive Select, Matrix LED headlamps and dynamic indicators. Indoors, you’ll find a 4-zone automatic climate control, air ionising system, 30-colour ambient lighting, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, two displays at the centre (10.1-inch and an 8.6-inch) and a Bang & Olufsen 3D sound system. Checking the safety and driver-assist systems boxes are features like Park Assist Plus, a 360-degree camera, Hill Hold Assist, cruise control and Lane Departure Warning.

Audi India hasn’t confirmed when it plans to announce the prices of the new Q7. However, you can expect that to happen before January 2022 comes to a close. Once launched, Audi’s roomiest SUV will take the game to other contenders such as the Mercedes-Benz GLE, BMW X5, Land Rover Discovery and the Volvo XC90.
