Many believe that this year’s version of the Auto Expo will be a dull affair. Why? Many prominent carmakers have decided to skip it. However, Tata Motors is not amongst the absentees. The homegrown automaker has some big plans for the biennial event. A total of 26 vehicles, including four global unveils, will demand attention. The overall figure will also include 12 cars/SUVs and 14 commercial vehicles.
As you’d expect, the company has refrained from giving any particular details about the products lined-up. That opens the door to “Speculation Street”. However, before taking a stroll down that lane, there are a couple of passenger vehicles that are almost certain to show up. The first one is the Nexon EV. Unveiled last month, it should make the vital public debut next month. Next up is the Gravitas. Tata Motors confirmed that it would launch the three-row UV in February this year. It might just receive a price list at the Auto Expo.

And now we step out! The global unveil list could very well include a commercial vehicle of some sort. Or, all four could be passenger cars or SUVs. Expect Tata Motors to take the wraps off the Nexon facelift. That should carry almost the same design on the outside as the Nexon EV. Apart from that, we could get to see a near-production version of the H2X. That, when it made the global debut at last year’s Geneva Motor Show, left everyone in shock. It looks like a shrunken version of the H5X concept, which later became the Harrier. Alongside the H2X was another production prototype – the Altroz EV. With the conventionally-powered Altroz launching later this month, Tata Motors could very well entice onlookers with a pre-production showpiece.

In the past, Tata Motors said that it is working towards CESS – Connected, Electric, Shared and Safe. What will act as a vital catalyst in that journey is the Connected Vehicle Architecture. The company is building it in such a manner that it will serve all products across the commercial as well as passenger vehicle spaces. Another revelation from the Nexon-maker is that in the BSVI reign, it will introduce petrol, diesel and CNG engines with manual, automatic and automated-manual transmissions.
