Saar: Based on what it said in April 2018, we expect Audi India to bring the new A1 on our shores too.

Think digital – the all new #Audi #A1 with virtual cockpit and MMI touch display. #TheNewAudiA1 #EpicModeOn

Audi is keeping its marketing peeps quite busy. The unveiling of the Audi Q8 is barely a week-old news and they are already up and running with their next project. But this time, it is for the other end of the spectrum. The folks over in Ingolstadt uploaded the first official teaser of the upcoming Audi A1.

Now, we can confirm a few details from this rather cocky teaser video. First, Audi’s MMI will find a proper place in the all-new A1’s dashboard which, unlike a floating design, is much easier on the eyes. Second, there is no second touchscreen on the centre console. The good-old knobs and buttons will take care of things like the automatic climate control. Third, the human hand is pretending to write Barcelona on the MMI screen. That means the all-new Audi A1 will make its world premiere, like the A8 did last year, in Spain. Anything else? Yes. Let’s continue.

Fourth, although it isn’t visible in the teaser above, Audi confirms that the A1 will also get its Virtual Cockpit. For the uninitiated, that simply means a digital instrument cluster with a wide array of display settings. Whether that will be offered as standard or will only be offered in the higher variants is something that remains to be seen. Fifth, the contrasting accents on the AC vents leads us to believe that this one in the video is the sporty variant of the lot with possibly a dual-tone treatment on the outside as well. And sixth, Audi chose Barcelona to unveil the all-new A1 because it will be produced at its sister company’s, SEAT, plant in Martorell. Moreover, this time around Audi A1 is expected to ditch its 3-door form altogether.

Apart from these takeaways, there is nothing else that Audi has officially confirmed about the all-new A1. That said, do keep an eye out for more teasers in the coming weeks before it officially breaks cover. Also, we do believe that it will end up coming to India as well. Why? Well, you can read about that here.
