2020 was riddled with challenges, profoundly headed by the infamous pandemic. However, its after-effects were felt in 2021. Besides countries battling newer and deadlier variants, their economies felt the grunt of it all. And amidst all that, the automotive industry came face-to-face with issues like rising commodity prices, shipment challenges and the shortage of chips (semi-conductors).

Riding the wave of uncertainty, along with all other players out there, was Audi India. And it managed to close 2021 on a high. Compared to 2020, last year’s sales of 3,293 equated a growth of 101 per cent. That means the year 2021 helped Audi India post the highest ever increase in sales since 2008.

In addition to strengthening the dealership network, Audi India also focused on introducing new products and entering new segments. A total of nine models were launched in 2021, including refreshed versions of the Q5 and A4 and the rampant RS 5. The brand also began its EV journey by introducing the e-tron and the e-tron GT. Audi also confirms that the Q2 posted highest ever sales in December 2021.

The brand also worked to bolster its used car business. As a result, it doubled the Approved:plus outlets from seven to fourteen in 2021.

And what’s in store for 2022? Here’s what Balbir Singh Dhillion, who is the head of Audi India, had to say:

2022 is going to be another power-packed year for Audi India. We will continue to focus on our Strategy 2025 that focuses on Customer Centricity, Digitalization, Products and Network. With our promising portfolio of volume, performance and electric cars, we will continue to redefine luxury for our customers. We will have the full strength of our models back in the country and are confident of a strong performance in the months ahead.

The first product launch for 2022 isn’t far. And it’ll be the new Q7, the local assembly of which commenced last month.
