If you’ve read somewhere that Jaguar’s India website recently made space for the F-Pace SVR, then you have been misinformed. It found space in October last year, right after the 2019 F-Pace went on sale. Let’s get to the gist of the story – Jaguar is now accepting bookings for the F-Pace SVR in India. What is the minimum booking amount? We don’t know. What will be the asking price for it? We don’t know that either but we can take a calculated guess. Based on some quick calculations, it should be around Rs 2 crore.

The Jaguar F-Pace SVR made its world premiere in March 2018. Wearing the SVR logo means Jaguar Land Rover’s in-house skunkworks – Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) – developed this version of the SUV. Propulsion comes courtesy of a 5.0-litre, supercharged V8 that produces 543bhp/680Nm, 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel-drive. Jaguar claims a 0-100kmph sprint time of 4.3 seconds and a top speed of 283kmph. To make the herculean power tamable, the F-Pace SVR also gets torque vectoring, an active electronic differential, massive brakes and a rear diffuser.

In the features department, the F-Pace SVR gets almost everything that Jaguar has to offer. The list includes a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, head-up display, Meridian sound system with up to 16 speakers, built-in 4G Wi-Fi HotSpot and a rear-view camera. The standard assistance systems include cruise control, Driver Condition Monitor, Lane Keep Assist, 360-degree surround camera and 360-degree parking aid. As you would expect, there is a list of optional extras as well. That one covers adaptive cruise control with stop & go and high-speed emergency braking.

As you must have guessed, the F-Pace SVR will land in India via the CBU (Completely Built Unit) route. Size-wise, the F-Pace sits somewhere between the Range Rover Velar and the Porsche Macan. Price-wise, however, it is likely to be on a different planet. Expect to get a confirmation on that in the first quarter of next year.
