After launching the Altroz iTurbo earlier this month, Tata Motors has now introduced the Tiago Limited Edition. The said derivative is available in just one form – the petrol-MT. At Rs 5.79 lakh, it costs Rs 29,000 more than the XT variant and Rs 16,000 less than the manual XZ.

So, what’s unique about the Tiago Limited Edition? Visually, it distances itself from both XT and XZ trim levels with black 14-inch alloy wheels. Neither of the compared derivatives gets alloy wheels. Instead, they make do with 14-inch steel rims with wheel covers. Thankfully, there’s more in the package. To carve the Limited Edition, Tata Motors took the XT variant and specced it up. You get a 5.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with in-built navigation and voice commands, and a rear-parcel tray for the extra you pay.

The rest of the kit is as-is on the donor derivative. That means the list of features includes dual airbags, a four-speaker sound system with Bluetooth connectivity, all four power windows, ABS with EBD and CSC and support for ConnectNext App Suite along with image & video playback. As the name suggests, the Tiago Limited Edition won’t be around for long. So, above all, it offers that exclusivity factor as well.

As you’d expect, it packs the same 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine as the rest of the line-up. The powerplant pumps out 84bhp/113Nm, all of which goes to the front wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox. Tata Motors is offering the Tiago Limited Edition is three colours – Flame Red, Pearlescent White and Daytona Grey. As for the standard warranty, it is 2 years/75,000km.

The Tiago is Tata’s contender in the mini hatchback segment. Other options in that space include three Maruti Suzukis (Celerio, S-Presso and WagonR), Datsun Go and the Hyundai Santro. How well do you think the Tiago Limited Edition will sell?
