Saar: The expected starting price for the high-riding people carrier is around 1,50,000 EUR.

Last week, homegrown automaker Mahindra launched a new luxury EV brand called Automobili Pininfarina. At the launch event, the new company’s boss, Michael Perschke, said that first project is a hypercar. The car will launch in 2020 and will take on the likes of the Rimac Concept Two, Nio EP9 and the Tesla Roadster. Immediately after that, Automobili Pininfarina will launch three all-electric SUV. The project codename is P-One.

All three will likely be from the same family but with different battery packs and performance figures. That’s exactly what Tesla does with its Model X. But where the Tesla X tops out at around 1,50,000 EUR, the P-One’s range will start from the same price. We expect the P-One to be a lot more exotic than the Tesla and that’s why it will rather worry the more luxurious brands. Let’s just say that the Bentley Bentayga, premium variants of the Range Rover and the Lamborghini Urus will all have something to think about.

As far as the power is concerned, the P-One is expected to have around 950PS on tap with multiple electric motors for propulsion. Battery pack is likely to hover around the 140kWh mark but both those figures will vary depending on the variant chosen. To put things in perspective, the Tesla Model X is the only all-electric SUV that the P-One will have, unless some other manufacturer comes up before 2021, and the maximum battery pack that Tesla offers is a 100kWh. The other battery pack on offer with the Model X is rated at 75kWh.

Pininfarina H2 Speed Concept

For the hypercar, which is codenamed H2 Speed, Automobili Pininfarina will keep the production numbers extremely limited. Perschke revealed that the hypercar is expected to cost over 2 million EUR. Furthermore, the 0-100kmph from a 1900PS powerplant will be less than 2 seconds! The maximum travel range on a single charge is likely to be around 500km, he added.
