Saar: After mesmerising a select set of eyes during the 2018 Monterey Car Week, the electric hypercar will make its world premiere at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show.

Up until now, Automobili Pininfarina had only released a bunch of sketches for its first-ever electric hypercar, which is codenamed PF0. The idea was to build up some momentum of enthusiasm especially for those who got to see the PF0 concept during the 2018 Monterey Car Week. No one, for obvious reasons, was allowed to capture any photographs of the electric hypercar but the company did release an official teaser, in flesh, of the concept vehicle.

As you can see, it is a shot of the rear end. The first design aspect that catches the eye is the floating rear wing which is split in half at the centre. Integrated at the end of the two-part wing are the slip taillamp enclosures, which aren’t wide enough to accommodate anything else other than LEDs. Another design cue is are the cuts on top of the floating wing which will deploy under braking manoeuvres. The overall rear profile swoops neatly down to the tail of the low-slung hypercar. The dual-tone rear bumper will, in all probability, house a massive diffuser to keep the car glued to the ground at high triple-digit speeds.

No much is currently known, for certain, about the Pininfarina PF0. But we do know that only 150 units of the PF0 will ever be made, 50 per year from 2020 to 2022. It will be powered by four independent electric motors, one for each wheel. It is believed that each one of those electric motors will have around 500PS of power, taking the total close to the 2,000PS mark. Thanks to that, an aerodynamic design and the use of lightweight construction materials, the Pininfarina PF0 will complete the 0-100kmph sprint in less than two seconds and go way past 400kmph at full stretch. The company is also claiming that the powertrain will be efficient enough to travel over 500km on a single charge. But not at speeds of over 400kmph, obviously!

The Pininfarina PF0 will make its world premiere at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. Up until then, expect the Italian brand to release more teasers for the near production-ready hypercar. As far as price is concerned, auto pundits from around the globe are saying that each one could cost between 2-3 million USD. That’s a fitting price range for a car that claims to have a range of mind-bending performance figures.
