Saar: It will make its world premiere in Stockholm at the third annual @Me Convention on September 4, 2018.

The first-ever pure electric vehicle (EV) which will enter production and wear the three-pointed star at the front is not far away to make its world premiere. In other words, the Mercedes-Benz EQC will be unveiled to the world in Stockholm at the third annual @Me Convention on September 4, 2018. However, to keep the car nutters intrigued, the Stuttgart-based automaker has released a teaser video of the EQC with no camouflaged in the mix. Here it is:

Mercedes-Benz is flipping the switch

There’s not much to talk about the teaser, is there?! The most prominent feature is the extensive use of LED DRLs (daytime running lights) which, apart from featuring in the headlamp enclosures, also highlight the top lip of the front grille. Speaking of which, the grille design has horizontal slats which stretch either way and blend into the curvy broad borders. Other visible design cues include a muscular bonnet with a hump that stretches and widens to meet the A-pillars of the EQC and the conventional ORVM that has a build-in turn indicator.

Over the past few months, Mercedes-Benz has been busy letting us know that the EQC is being put through various kinds of tests. For instance, the car has been tested to work in extreme weather conditions with temperatures ranging from minus 35 degrees Celcius to plus 50 degrees Celcius. To test the EQC’s ability on different kinds of terrains, the carmaker took prototypes to several countries across the globe including Spain, Italy, China and the USA.

Mercedes-Benz hasn’t released any specifications for the EQC yet. However, we can take something away from the concept vehicle’s powertrain. It boasted a dual-motor setup, each delivering 150kW of power. That means a total power output of 300kW, which in our dictionary means 408PS. That kind of power, accompanied by the immediate torque delivery of electric motors, should help the EV complete the 0-100kmph sprint in around 5 seconds. With a 70kWh worth of battery capacity, the EQC is tipped to have more than 400km of range on a single charge. And yes, dual-motors will effectively make the Mercedes-Benz EQC a four-wheel-drive vehicle.

Of course, those numbers are from the concept vehicle and things could be different in the finished, production-ready specimen. The good news is that we just need to wait for a week before Mercedes-Benz enlightens us with the actual set of specifications.
