It was in January this year when Tata Motors launched the Harrier SUV in India. Since then and until recently, it was priced between Rs 12.69 – 16.25 lakh. Now, however, the homegrown automaker has silently updated the Harrier’s price list. All four variants have received a bump of approximately Rs 31,000. Hence, the Harrier now starts at Rs 13 lakh and goes all the way up to Rs 16.56 lakh. Here’s the complete price list:

  • XE – Rs 12,99,755
  • XM – Rs 14,05,755
  • XT – Rs 15,25,755
  • XZ – Rs 16,55,755

By the end of this year, the Harrier will be joined by its seven-seat version (codenamed H7X) which, at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, broke cover as the Buzzard. Tata Motors is also hard at work to make the Harrier compliant with the upcoming Bharat Stage VI (BSVI) standard of emission norms.

Over to the Tata Harrier. The Kryotec diesel mill is tuned to produce 140PS/350Nm and the only transmission option currently available is a 6-speed manual. Tata Motors will also introduce an automatic option but that is likely to happen around the same time when the engine becomes BSVI-ready.

Harrier’s standard list of features includes 16-inch steel wheels, projector headlamps, dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, power windows and dual function DRLs with turn indicators. The range-topping derivative brings in 17-inch alloy wheels, a 9-speaker JBL sound system mated to an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, six airbags, electronic traction control, a 7.0-inch TFT display within the instrument cluster, terrain response modes and hill hold/descent control.

Apart from rivalling the Jeep Compass and the MG Hector, the Tata Harrier also falls in the same sort of price bracket as the Mahindra XUV500 (Rs 12.22 – 18.54 lakh) and the Tata Hexa (Rs 13.26 – 18.64 lakh).

Note: All prices mentioned above are ex-showroom Delhi.
