Saar: Apart from detailing the engine and its performance numbers, the Czech carmaker also shed light on some of the bespoke features that are part of the concept’s kit.

It is safe to say that Skoda right up there amongst the best carmakers which really know how to go about teasing their upcoming models. At the 2018 Paris Motor Show, which will open its gates on October 4, 2018, Skoda will not only unveil the fastest seven-seat SUV that has ever gone around the Nürburgring but also give us lot a glimpse of future RS models. That latter part will be handled by the Skoda Vision RS Concept, which has already been teased a couple of times before.

Now, in the latest edition of the Vision RS’ teaser campaign, Skoda has detailed the engine and its performance as well as revealed some of the bespoke features that will be part of the model’s kit. Underneath the hood of the concept will be a plug-in hybrid power plant. The dual engine setup will comprise a 1.5-litre TSI mill, which develops 110PS of power all on its own, and an electric motor generating an additional 102PS. Skoda claims that the total system output is rated at 245PS, which is enough for the concept to hit 100kmph from nought in 7.1 seconds.

On battery power alone, the Skoda Vision RS Concept can travel up to 70km. That helps bring the overall CO2 emissions down to just 33g per kilometre. The on-board lithium-ion battery pack has a storage capacity of 13kWh. It can either be charged using a cable in about 2.5 hours or can replenish using energy recovery system while on the move.

The Skoda Vision RS Concept will not be just about outright power from a less polluting heart. Skoda has also equipped the model with some futuristic stuff. For instance, the paint job has some organic components which reflect heat. Also included in the bodywork are several black carbon elements which enhance the sporty character of the car. The front grille, front and rear spoilers, ORVMs, side sills, air inlets and outlets, and the rear diffuser are finished in the same high-tech material.

Skoda has already revealed details about the interiors of the Vision RS Concept. However, the carmaker has now given us an example of how sustainable production practices will be part of the car’s kit. The floor mats, for instance, use Piñatex textile in a carbon weave; the high-performance material extracts its fibres from the leaves of a pineapple tree. The carmaker has also shared a couple of sketches to showcase the sports steering wheel design. We’ll be keeping a tab on how the Skoda Vision RS Concept sums up in flesh.
