After a dark first teaser and a name-revealing second, Skoda has now released a couple of sketches for the Skoda Kamiq. It will make its world premiere at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, which will open its gates on March 5 and close them on March 17, 2019. We know what you are thinking. You have seen that shape before. You are absolutely correct! Recall the memories of what concept SUV Skoda showcased at last year’s Geneva Motor Show and you’ll have your answer. If you can’t be bothered to do so, it was the Vision X Concept.

We think Skoda has done a brilliant job at recreating a sketch out of a concept vehicle. Think about it. Normally, it is the other way around. Way to go, Skoda! Anyway, the Kamiq nameplate was first introduced in China last year. For Europe, however, the Kamiq will be different. For the first time on a Skoda vehicle, the front will have a two-part LED headlamp design. The sleeker units, which look like eyebrows on a good-looking face, will feature DRLs and double-up as dynamic indicators. Speaking of which, the European Kamiq will also become the first vehicle from Skoda to feature dynamic indicators at the front and the rear.

The resemblance with the Vision X Concept continues with the upright radiator grille design, sculpted lines on the bonnet, a well-defined splitter accompanying the sporty bumper and a sloping roofline. At the rear, the roof-mounted spoiler, sleek 3D taillamp units and a large diffuser all point to the concept SUV from last year. The Skoda Kamiq will also become the first SUV in Europe which will bear Skoda lettering in the middle of the boot lid instead of the company’s logo. Skoda also hints at a high ground clearance on the Kamiq, which should act as a plus for markets where the roads aren’t the best.

On the whole, the Kamiq looks like a sporty and compact crossover. It will be underpinned by the Volkswagen Group’s Modular Transverse Matrix (MQB) platform and will feature new assistance systems. Expect Skoda to release more teasers along with more specifications for the Kamiq over the coming weeks.
