It seems Hyundai is in a hurry to introduce the all-new i20. And why not! This year’s Diwali is just over two weeks away. After revealing what all goes into making the hatchback in question, the company has now confirmed a few more details. Hyundai has started accepting online bookings for the new i20 from today. Those interested can do so by paying a minimum token amount of Rs 21,000. As for the launch date, that’s November 5, 2020.

And, yes. What you see here is the India-spec i20. The design is busy and far from conservative. But then, Hyundai has seldom played safe when it comes to looks. The images reveal some key elements, including projector-type headlamps and fog lamps, a grille with massive teeth, LED DRLs, 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, LED-powered tail lamps and a faux diffuser. The list of confirmed features also includes a powered sunroof, Hyundai’s new-gen steering wheel, an instrument cluster with a colour display and a touchscreen infotainment system with Blue Link technology.

The new i20 is available in four trim levels – Magna, Sportz, Asta and Asta (O). The variants will comprise of petrol, diesel and turbo-petrol engines and iMT (intelligent Manual Transmission), IVT (Intelligent Variable Transmission), 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) and manual gearboxes. In all probability, the range will start with a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine producing 82bhp/114Nm and mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The 1.0-litre turbo-petrol motor, good for 118bhp/172Nm, will be available with a 6-speed manual, a 7-speed DCT and iMT. As for the diesel engine, which is likely to be the 1.5-litre motor with 99bhp/240Nm on tap, will come coupled to a 6-speed manual unit. No points for guessing, those powertrains come from the Venue.

Colours? There are six monotone and two dual-tone options. Falling the former category are white, silver, grey, red, copper and “Starry Night”. The latter one consists of a white body with black top and red with a black roof.

Book the new Hyundai i20 online (via the ‘Click To Buy’ section), and you can avail 10 per cent cashback on booking amount. To get that, make that transaction with either an ICICI or an HDFC Credit or Debit card. The cashback will be issued based on the final financing solution from the bank.
