Did you purchase a Scorpio, Marazzo or the new Thar recently? Does it have a manufacturing date between June 21 and July 2, 2021? Well, chances are that your car might require immediate service action. Why? Read on.

Mahindra has voluntarily recalled a total of 531 units, comprising of the three models mentioned above. The list includes both 118bhp and 138bhp versions of the Scorpio, all variants of the Marazzo and the AX Diesel-MT and LX Diesel-AT derivatives of the new Thar. Reason? The company wants to inspect for a possible problem related to premature wearing of the engine and the exhaust system.

If you’re unsure whether your Mahindra is part of this recall, don’t worry, as there are several ways to find out. One way is you could contact the nearest dealership and check. The personnel will ask for the Vehicle Serial Number (VSN). You can find that on both the invoice you received with the vehicle and its registration certificate. Another way is to visit Mahindra’s official website and provide the VSN along with your mobile number.

Like all vehicle recalls, the whole process of inspection and rectification will come at no cost to the customer. Before you head out, though, ensure that you have an appointment with the dealer. It’s always a safe practice and helps avoid longer waiting times. Mahindra hasn’t mentioned how long the process will take.

As we know, the current-gen Scorpio will soon be replaced by an all-new one. That, like the XUV700, will flaunt Mahindra’s new logo and several segment-leading features. The Marazzo, on the other hand, didn’t perform quite as well as Mahindra had hoped. That said, the automaker is working to introduce an AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) option for the MPV. That should help it cater to a broader audience. And the new Thar’s acceptance is quite the opposite to the Marazzo. With waiting periods stretching beyond 6-7 months for some variants, the rugged off-roader is in huge demand.
