It was back in August last year when Porsche unveiled the revised Panamera range. Now, it is available in India. The German brand has decided to offer the four-door model in four variants – Standard, GTS, Turbo S and Turbo S E-Hybrid. In the same order, their prices are Rs 1.45 crore, Rs 1.86 crore, Rs 2.12 crore and Rs 2.43 crore. As before, the Panamera arrives in India via the CBU (Completely Built Unit) route. That’s the main reason behind those eye-watering price tags.

All of them now flaunt the previously optional Sport Design face with prominent air intake grilles, larger side cooling openings and a single-bar front light module. The Turbo S differentiates itself by boasting larger side air intakes, and dual front lights which are now further apart. Porsche has even revised the LED-powered taillamps, which sport a dark treatment in the GTS variant. The new Panamera also comes with an updated Porsche Communication Management, which includes added features such as wireless Apple CarPlay, LED matrix headlights with PDLS Plus, Park Assist with Surround View and a head-up display.

The new Panamera also packs the revised Porsche Active Suspension Management system. That controls the three-chamber air suspension, which is a standard feature. Customers can avail Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control Sport and Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus, which help refine ride and handling further, from the options list.

As for the powertrains, the standard Panamera packs a 3.0-litre, twin-turbo V6 that pumps out 326bhp/450Nm. Get the car in GTS form and under the bonnet will be a 4.0-litre V8 boosted by two turbochargers with 473bhp/620Nm on tap. The same powerplant also does duty in the Turbo S and Turbo S E-Hybrid. In the former, it offers 621bhp/820Nm, whereas in the latter it generates 563bhp. But, the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid also packs an electric motor which takes the total system output up to 691bhp/870Nm. An 8-speed dual-clutch automatic handles transmission duties.

The most potent Panamera variant can travel up to 59km on electric power alone, about 30 per cent more than before. That comes courtesy of a 17.9 kWh battery. And, in case, you want something exclusive, Porsche still has the Panamera 4 10 Years Edition in stock. For that, you’ll have to get in touch with the local dealer.

If you had to buy a luxury performance saloon, which one would it be?
