It was in July this year when Audi unveiled the second-generation Q3. Back then, the folks from Ingolstadt announced that the new Q3 will go on sale in Europe in November 2018 and that it will be available with five engine variations. Now though, the VW-owned carmaker has unveiled the complete list of powertrain options for the new Q3 and detailed them. The smallest engine of the lot, the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol, comes with the cylinder-on-demand system. What that means is that at low and medium loads, the system deactivates the second and the third cylinder of the 4-cylinder engine temporarily. This help in reducing fuel consumption and, in turn, produces fewer emissions on the move.

As for the Quattro all-wheel-drive system, it is available with both versions of the 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and the range-topping 2.0-litre turbo-diesel. The rest of the range features front-wheel drive setup. The new Audi Q3 will surely come to India sometime next year. On our shores, it is likely to come in two variants – 35 TFSI and 35 TDI. Both are expected to come with only the automatic transmission. The diesel mill is likely to get the Quattro system as standard. Once launched, it will renew its rivalry with the likes of the Volvo XC40, Mercedes-Benz GLA, BMW X1 and the Mini Countryman.
