Here’s a car that took Ferrari over two years to complete. Dubbed as the SP3JC, it is a one-off project designed for a particular client by the Ferrari Styling Centre and has a chassis and running gear from the track-focused Ferrari F12 Tour de France (tdf). The Ferrari SP3JC is essentially an open-top version of the F12tdf from 2015. It is, in fact, a unique grand-tourer.

The overall silhouette of the SP3JC remains similar to that of the F12tdf – a long bonnet, a two-seat layout and short overhangs at the rear. However, in terms of design, the craftsmen from Maranello have changed several bits and pieces. For instance, the grille at the front has ‘smiling’ design, and two air intakes accompany it. Other changes include transparent glass panels on the bonnet, air vents on the side of the front fenders, carbon fibre roll hoops behind the seats and a redesigned rear end.

While several will feel that the paint scheme and the graphics on the Ferrari SP3JC are a bit too much, it actually comes from the client’s “passion for Pop Art.” The body is finished in a combination of Azzurro Met (blue), Bianco Italia (shade of white with silver hints) and Giallo Modena (yellow). Ferrari didn’t release any photographs of the interior but says that seats are blue leather with white inserts. The blue leather is also found on the lower dashboard, and the same colour extends as the contrasting stitching to the rest of the interior trim.

Powering the Ferrari SP3JC is a 6.3-litre V12 engine which produces 780PS of power and 705Nm of torque. It is paired with a seven-speed, dual-clutch automatic transmission. With the roof gone, it is likely to be a tad slower to accelerate to 100kmph as compared to the F12tdf and nor will it be as fast at full stretch.
